Frequently Asked Questions
You may have some questions about seeing me as your therapist...
FAQS
I’ve never been to therapy before. What can I expect?
Therapy is a safe space for people to process whatever it is that they may need in that moment. My psychotherapeutic approach is strength-based. That means that I will honor where you are at in the moment and provide empathy, while simultaneously challenging and empowering you to identify your internal strengths throughout the process. I believe that therapy is collaborative and I will never judge you or tell you what to do. Instead, we will work together to explore your current reality, what you would like your future reality to look like, and how we can work to get you there. I will provide you with tools and coping skills to use for additional support between sessions, and I will tailor my therapeutic approach to fit your needs.
What if I don’t live in San Diego?
While my office is located in San Diego, I also offer Telehealth (video or phone therapy sessions) to clients located anywhere in California. Online therapy can be just as effective as in-person, and is a convenient option for support.
How long will therapy take?
Unfortunately, this is not an easy answer… Everyone’s circumstances are unique to them and the length of time that psychotherapy can take to allow you to accomplish your goals depends on your desire for personal development, your commitment, and the factors that are driving you to seek therapy in the first place.
I want to get the most out of therapy. What can I do to help?
I am so glad you are dedicated to getting the most out of your sessions. Your active participation and dedication is crucial to your success. It’s the work you do outside of our sessions as well that will really help you see your personal growth and development.
What ages do you see for therapy?
I see adolescents and adults for therapy. I can treat individuals, couples, and families.
