Do you feel like you need a change?

Seeing a therapist in San Diego can help you work through your current struggles...

Are you feeling overwhelmed or depressed? Do you feel paralyzed by anxiety, worry, or low self-esteem? Perhaps you are experiencing a difficult life transition and are unsure of how to cope. Maybe you have been living with these difficult feelings and trying to cope on your own. You may even be silently struggling with disordered eating, poor body image, or past trauma.

Struggling is common, because struggling is human.

Therapist San Diego, CA Psychotherapist Women Receiving a Hug Your current struggle is nothing to be ashamed of. In fact, I believe that our struggles and hardships are what help make us in to the people that we are today. Everyone has challenges that arise throughout this life. Unfortunately, not everyone reaches out for help and tries to brave it alone. You on the other hand, do not need to do this. Help is available, and your mental health matters.

Why Book a Therapy Session with Me?

Self emBody Therapy - Sarah Lawley Chernick, LMFT Headshot - San Diego, CA 92109 I have worked in a variety of different treatment settings with multiple age groups and topics. I have experience providing therapy to clients in community-based mental health settings, intensive outpatient and partial hospitalization programs, residential treatment centers, school settings, outpatient clinics, and private practice. My specialties include working with anxiety, depression, disordered eating, body image struggles, trauma, low self-esteem, and life transitions.

After overcoming an eating disorder and anxiety disorders through personal therapy myself, I know just how debilitating it can feel to live with these symptoms. It doesn’t have to be this way, and you do not need to figure this out all on your own. You CAN live the life you’ve always envisioned – achieving your goals and exuding confidence. I can help you.

What Does a Therapy Session Look Like?

Therapy San Diego, CA Psychotherapy Women Having a Breakthrough Session

It is very important to me that my clients feel comfortable in therapy. I believe in honesty, vulnerability, and authenticity. Come as you are, and I will come as I am. I will provide a safe space for you to share whatever it is that you feel comfortable sharing. We will explore your current struggles, as well as set any goals that you have for yourself (whether it be in relation to mental health, self-esteem, relationships, and more). Therapy isn’t just about talking about problems, it is also about figuring out solutions. I am a strength-based therapist and I utilize positive psychology often, so I believe that we all possess the inner strength to overcome whatever challenges life throws our way. I will honor where you are at in your process, while also gently challenging you to step outside of your comfort zone and work towards the growth that you desire.

You may have some questions about seeing a therapist in San Diego...

If you are feeling “stuck” or unhappy regarding your current place in life, then therapy could be a great option for you. We can explore whatever is currently causing you to feel the way that you do. We can also discuss what it would look like to set and accomplish goals to work towards the life you desire for yourself.

My fee for therapy is $200 for a standard 50 minute session; however I am able to do longer sessions upon request.

I believe it is essential to find a therapist that you feel comfortable with, and that also has experience in helping with your current reasons for seeking therapy in the first place. I recommend “shopping around” until you find a therapist that you feel like you could work well with based on their expertise and therapeutic style. I offer a free 15-minute consultation that is a great opportunity for you to share your current reasons for seeking therapy, I can share my therapeutic style and expertise, and we can decide if it would be a good fit to work together.
A therapist is an individual that has obtained a Masters degree, thousands of hours of experience and supervision, and has also passed their state’s specific licensing exams. A psychologist typically has a PhD and may also conduct research and/or teach at a university. Both of these professions can provide direct client care in a private practice setting.
Counselors do not always require the same degrees or expertise that psychotherapists do. However, the word “counseling” can serve as an umbrella term that is very similar to therapy.
This depends on your current issues, goals, and preference for therapeutic styles. Each therapist is different and takes a different approach. I recommend inquiring about the types of issues and therapeutic styles that a therapist works with when you are looking for the right fit.

You CAN live your life free from worry or self-doubt...free to live your life peacefully on your own terms.
